Super Duplex S32760 Pipes and Tubes for Seawater Service

S32760 is different from other stainless types since its specification is based on performance needs rather than composition: the material must achieve a pitting resistance number of at least 40, with project specifications typically including an additional corrosion test that the material must conform to.The certificate has to prove it, not imply it. Super duplex S32760 pipes and tubes carry 25% chromium with molybdenum, tungsten and copper. The result is 550 MPa minimum yield with proven pitting resistance. It serves seawater and offshore systems across Oman. Related grades are on the duplex and super duplex pipes and tubes hub.

Where S32760 Is Used

  • Seawater systems on offshore platforms and FPSOs
  • Subsea and topside process piping
  • Produced water and sour service within ISO 15156-3 limits
  • Desalination high-chloride duty
  • Firewater ring mains in marine environments

The tungsten-free alternative is super duplex 2507 (S32750); for milder chlorides, duplex S32205 is more economical.

Proving the Grade: PREN and the G48 Test

Requirement

How it is demonstrated

PREN of at least 40

Calculated from the heat analysis, with tungsten included in the formula used for this grade

Pitting corrosion resistance

ASTM G48 testing, commonly Method A on the product and, for welded items, on the weld

Phase balance

Ferrite measurement within the range the specification sets

Toughness

Charpy impact testing, often at low temperature for offshore work

Hardness

Within the ASTM A790 limit, which also governs sour acceptance

Offshore specifications frequently combine all five, and they apply to fittings, flanges and welds as well as the pipe. When ordering, state the test temperature for G48 and whether welded items must be tested, because those details change both price and lead time far more than the base material does.

Seawater and Sour Service

S32760 is widely specified for seawater duty offshore, where its PREN and corrosion test acceptance give confidence in chlorinated seawater. Limits still apply with temperature, crevices and stagnant conditions, and design practice usually sets a maximum seawater temperature. Under NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156-3 the grade is accepted within defined sour limits, with hardness applying to pipe and welds. State your service conditions in the RFQ; requirements are confirmed at quotation.

Super Duplex S32760 Price Factors

Each enquiry is quoted individually, since alloy surcharges move week to week. What changes the figure:

  • Grade and alloy content
  • Product form, size and wall
  • Finish, cleaning and passivation
  • Supplementary tests and PMI
  • Order quantity against mill minimums
  • Stock or mill order
  • Certificate level and inspection scope
  • Delivery terms and destination port

Quotations are available in USD, OMR, AED, SAR, QAR, KWD and BHD, on EXW, FOB, CFR or CIF terms.

What to send for a quotation:

grade, standard, seamless or welded, NPS or OD, schedule or wall, length, quantity, finish, testing, the G48 test method and temperature, certification, inspection, destination port and required date.

Certification, PMI and Inspection

Material comes with EN 10204 3.1 certificates as standard, and EN 10204 3.2 certificates on request. Inspection by the buyer's nominated third-party agency can be arranged; state your requirement in the RFQ. For Super Duplex S32760, review the chemistry, annealing details and mechanical results, and specify PMI so each item is verified before it goes into the line. See the MTC and EN 10204 certification guide.

Handling Super Duplex S32760 on Site

Lead time is confirmed at quotation. Pipe and tube arrive capped, and wrapped where the finish requires it. Store on timber or plastic, not on carbon steel, and use dedicated slings, brushes and grinding discs. Salt-laden coastal air leaves deposits on stored material, so a rinse before welding is worth the time.

Fittings and Related Grades

Match with ASTM A815 WP S32760 fittings and A182 F55 flanges, tested to the same requirements as the pipe.

S32760 is used across marine and offshore, desalination and water treatment and upstream oil and gas and sour service systems.

Super Duplex S32760 FAQ

What is special about S32760?

Its requirements include a minimum pitting resistance number of 40 and, in most project specifications, corrosion testing the product must pass.

What is the difference between S32760 and S32750?

S32760 contains tungsten and copper and slightly lower maximum molybdenum. Both are 25% chromium super duplex grades with 550 MPa minimum yield.

What is the G48 test?

An ASTM pitting corrosion test in ferric chloride solution, commonly specified on the product and on welds for offshore work.

Can S32760 be used in sour service?

Within the limits of ISO 15156-3, with the hardness limit applying to pipe and welds.

What is the EN equivalent?

1.4501 (X2CrNiMoCuWN25-7-4).

What should I send for a quotation?

Send the UNS number, standard, form, size, wall, length, quantity, G48 and ferrite testing requirements, certification, inspection and destination port.

Request a Quote for Super Duplex S32760 Pipes and Tubes

Send the UNS number, size, wall, quantity and the testing your specification requires, including G48 temperature. Every enquiry is checked against ASTM A790 before the offer is prepared, so testing scope is agreed before material is committed.
